Project Description: Spontaneous connection with strangers is getting rarer all the time. Even in cafes, parks, and events full of people, there’s often no clear way to say hi.

Everyday places are missing a simple piece of social infrastructure — a visible signal that it’s okay to talk to someone you haven’t met yet. That gap leads to missed connections, untapped ideas, and unnecessary loneliness.

MingleSpaces make it easy for places to close that gap. A simple sign creates a connection spot — a table or area where anyone can drop in, scan a QR code, and start talking through built-in prompts and light activities. A MingleSpace isn’t an event, and it doesn’t require an RSVP or profile. It’s simply an open spot to meet new people — a space designed to help strangers start talking and share ideas.

Major Project Activities: We help places create spontaneous connection spots at their venues. Any place or community organizer can sign up and download our signs for free. It’s simple: download, print, and display. Once signed up, places can be listed on our directory, have access to our participant portal with resources for sharing and tips for signs and more.
